Clyde and Marie's

Meet the Staff
Shellie Slay (right) is the owner of Clyde and Marie's Bed and Breakfast. Having been born and raised in the south, Shellie is overflowing with southern hospitality. As a child, she spent weeks during the summer visiting her grandparents, Clyde and Marie Walters. It was through their influence that she saw what a true southerner looked like. Her grandparents never met a stranger. They made every person that walked through their doors feel like they were important and welcomed into their home. This legacy is what she wants to be felt at the bed and breakfast. Her motto, "When you're here, you're family," is not just a motto but a commitment to each of her guests. When you are at Clyde and Marie's, you will be treated like family. In her spare time, she loves to go "junkin". However, there is no such thing as junk in her book - it's all treasures. She loves cooking, spending time with her family and her farm animals. She collects tea cups and tea pots which are displayed throughout the house. Vintage photographs are also a collection item that she treasures.
Natalie Tanksley Smith (left) is our on sight event planner, wedding planner and wedding director. She is the daughter of Shellie and the great granddaughter of Clyde and Marie. She enjoys spending time planning and creating elaborate events at Clyde and Marie’s including (but not limited to) Santa Story Time Pajama Parties, Gender Reveal Parties, Engagement celebrations, class reunions, birthday celebrations, and (of course) weddings. She enjoys planning themed parties both at Clyde and Marie’s and on location and has recently done several princess birthday parties where she played the role of Disney Princesses such as The Little Mermaid’s Arial and Frozen’s Elsa. In her spare time, Natalie enjoys making crafts, photography and spending time with her family. She is a registered nurse and resides in Brandon with her two children Bryson and Brody.
Stephanie Tanksley (middle) is also our wedding planner and on-site event coordinator. She is the daughter-in-law of Shellie. She was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She has lived all over the South but finally decided to settle down in Brandon in 2009. When she's not working, studying or planning events at Clyde and Marie's, she enjoys baking and decorating cakes. Stephanie has a gift of being organized and her ability to plan events is an awesome asset to C&M's. She leaves no stone unturned when it comes to making sure every detail of every event is covered.
Zach Tanksley is the son of Shellie Slay and the great grandson of Clyde and Marie. Zach is a "jack of all trades" and is such an asset to C & M's. Zach enjoys woodworking and has been helpful in getting our banquet room, The COOP, ready for events. Zach has a natural talent as a carpenter and is blessed to be able to have a career in woodworking. Zach enjoys singing and playing the guitar. He loves riding his motorcycle and hanging out with friends. Zach has a big heart which is definitely a trait he got from his great grandparents. He is a big help around the B&B.
Zach and Stephanie recently moved to Scott County to be closer to C&M's. They are a great help in making sure the B&B runs smoothly.
Nick Tanksley is Shellie’s youngest son. He is our extra set of hands, always ready to jump in and tackle any project we have at Clyde and Marie’s. He has been instrumental in the renovation of our banquet room, as we transform what was once the garage into "The Coop." Nick is fun to work with and makes any work day at Clyde and Marie’s a fun day. His hobbies include playing the guitar, riding his motorcycle, fishing, and hunting. He resides in Brandon, MS.
