Do you love you?

Self-Love. Do you have it? Do you know what it is? Can you look at yourself in the mirror and say....Wow! You are awesome and I love you! I'm learning that most people (including myself) have a hard time loving themselves. I have been blessed over the past few years with being a mentor to ladies. I have mentored ladies of all ages. The one thing that I have heard over and over again is the self-doubt and low self esteem that these women deal with on a daily basis. Beautiful women feel ugly. Skinny women feel fat. "My nose is too big" "My hair is too curly". I could go on and on...... There is a harsh reality in this world of girls/women that don't like themselves much less love themselves. I believe that the enemy (Satan) is determined to make us feel "less than". God's Word tells us to Love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:39). It's kind of hard to love our neighbor if we don't love ourselves. And WHO is our neighbor? Our neighbor is anyone in our life circle. So.....I think is is time for us to learn how to love ourselves. I am learning to look at myself through the eyes of my maker. God doesn't make junk. He doesn't make mistakes. I am learning to forgive myself for things I have done in the past that were bad choices. I am taking every thought captive that comes into my mind....if it is a positive thought that will bring good feelings into my being, I accept this thought, if it is a negative thought that will bring me down, I kick it out of my head. I have started speaking affirmations to myself. Try it. Stand in front of a mirror and speak positive affirmations to yourself. It may be uncomfortable at first but it is a great tool in learning to love self. Listed below are a few of the affirmations that I use: 1) I am worthy of good things 2) I am a smart person 3) I make good decisions 4) I know what I want 5) It's okay to be happy 6) I am valuable just as I am 7) I listen to myself and live my dreams 8) My life has purpose 9) I am beautiful 10) I choose to be with supportive people 11) I am a perfect being through Christ 12) I am loved for who I am 13) Good people want to be my friends 14) My goals are worth reaching 15) I am a gift to the world 16) I bring joy wherever I go 17) I am fun 18) I am loyal 19) I am trustworthy 20) I am talented I encourage you to do this and see what a difference it can make in how you feel about yourself. Learn to focus on the good and let go of the bad. There isn't one person on the face of this earth that is perfect. Learning to accept yourself and love yourself will change your world. |
